A town with a steely determination
Located in the north east of England, Middlesbrough offers a mix of town and country with its proximity to the North York Moors National Park, stunning coastline and fast links to cultural centres like Newcastle to the north and York to the south.
Home to Teesside University, it has a diverse student population from around the world which contributes to the town’s cultural and intellectual vibrancy. Visit the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (MIMA) or the Dorman Museum to soak up some culture or experience the roar of the crowd at the Riverside stadium, home to Middlesbrough FC.

MIMA
Middlesbrough is lucky to have a purpose built modern art space at its heart. In addition to exhibitions and events there is a fantastic bistro/ café and shop stocking all manner of fun artistic gifts celebrating the area.
The seaside
Redcar, Whitby and Saltburn are all short drives/ train journeys away from the town centre and offer some stunning coastline to explore. Learn to surf, walk along the pier, grab an ice cream or stay for some of the best fish and chips you’ve ever had.
Bright lights, big city
If you want to go further afield you can explore the bright lights and nightlife of Newcastle or head south to historic York and visit the exquisite minster up close.
National Videogame Museum
A drive to Sheffield will reward you with a visit to the National Videogame Museum. An amazing place filled with games old and new and exhibitions celebrating the teams that brought these epic adventures into our homes.
North York Moors National Park
Not everyone is lucky enough to have a national park on their doorstep. We are treated to fantastic walks and breathtaking views. A great day out with plenty of traditional pubs in small villages all over the moors where you’ll be welcomed by an open fire and a refreshing drink.
